U.S. Bank Awards First-Ever Boundless Potential Award to Two Small Businesses

  • Taqueria Durango and Interfaith Dental were honored for their commitment to their communities
  • Each organization received a $5,000 donation for their charity of choice

U.S. Bank recently recognized two small business clients for their outstanding dedication to their communities by presenting them with the bank’s inaugural Boundless Potential award. Taqueria Durango, a Mexican restaurant in St. Louis, and Interfaith Dental, a nonprofit dental clinic in Nashville, were both acknowledged for their exceptional efforts in serving those in need around them. As part of the award, each organization was given a $5,000 donation to be used for their charity of choice.

The Boundless Potential award was created to celebrate clients who go above and beyond to make a lasting impact in their communities. According to Tim Welsh, Vice Chair of Consumer and Business Banking at U.S. Bank, the bank invests in clients who have the power to generate jobs and enhance the overall quality of life in the communities they serve. By recognizing and supporting their potential, U.S. Bank believes that these clients can make an even greater impact.

Taqueria Durango, which opened in 2009, experienced a devastating setback in early 2020 when a kitchen fire destroyed the restaurant. However, the restaurant owners, Miguel and Isidora Lopez, turned their attention to helping their community. They partnered with organizations to distribute essential supplies, such as food, diapers, and face masks, and later worked with the U.S. Army to become a COVID-19 vaccination site.

Interfaith Dental, the second award recipient, is a nonprofit dental clinic that provides affordable dental care to vulnerable populations in Middle Tennessee. Over half of their expenses are covered by donations. Established in 1994 to assist working poor families and seniors who fall between private practice and public healthcare, Interfaith Dental has become a vital resource in the community. There is currently a waitlist of over 1,200 individuals seeking their services.

This recognition highlights the important contributions that small businesses and nonprofits make to their communities. By honoring Taqueria Durango and Interfaith Dental, U.S. Bank aims to inspire and encourage other organizations to make a positive impact. The Boundless Potential award not only provides financial support but also recognizes and celebrates the dedication and hard work of these exceptional businesses.
